Balchik is a city in Northeastern Bulgaria, located in the Dobrich Region and close to Varna. It is the administrative center of Balchik municipality. 18 km from Kavarna and 40 km north of Varna is the town of Balchik - one of the most picturesque on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The town is located on a terrace and rises above the sea. Its inhabitants number about 14,000.
The coastline near the city is 4 km long. The port is used by medium-sized passenger and commercial vessels. The city attracts tourists with the uniqueness of its old houses and streets, which have preserved its ancient atmosphere. There are many objects of interest - the Ethnographic Museum, the old Turkish mosque, the Church of St. Nicholas.
